There are a variety of details that grab our as the reader, for instance the fact that he is holding what seems to be a bible in his hand. He also has some sort of cane or rod in his hand.One of the features that stand out the most for me are the four crosses around him. They sem to grab most readers attention because they all are religous symbols, so you can infer that he was some type of a religous man.
The figure on p. 20 shows a higher authority holding a book. The reason that it catches our attention is because it symbolizes how the church became the center of all things that had to do with literature. This shows how they viewed the church officials. This is very important in helping us to understand their culture.
The picture of St. John on page 20 shows him holding crosses in his hand indicating that he was a religious man of some sort. Crosses indicates Christ(who was believed to be the son of God) and his crucifiction. Also, the book that was being held indicated that the medieval periods revolved around the church.
On page 20, many details stood out of the focal point. There was a heavy religious aspect as many figures and symbols directed the viewers towards the man. Small details like the (supposed) bible in his hand, and crosses behind him. It almost makes his being stand out, grabbing all the attention.

The book is one of the stronger aspects because it may not just symbolize the bible, but it also shows that St. Paul (and other religious figures and clergymen) are educated because they can read, unlike the majority of the people of the time. Finally, St. Paul is seen sitting on an extravagant chair, almost like a thrown, which glorifies Christianity.
